When the jar gets less than half full (half empty for the pessimests), the peanut butter gets too hard to spread over bread. Can I just throw the whole jar in the microwave for 30 seconds? Any suggests welcome.

I usually heat up the knife on top of the toaster. Sounds like you don't stir the stuff enough when the jar is less used.-------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Be sure NOT to drain the peanut oil...this can harden the PB.-------------- Baseball is wrong: Man with four balls cannot walk. Jdelts@freetrainers.com |

Simply mix the oil and peanut butter when you first open it with a deep knife as best you can. Turn the jar upside down and store that way. Voia', problem solved.

You're right, I only mix it once on the first time. I'll try the heated knife thing tomorrow and see how that goes.
Ron, doesn't the upside down jar get a little messy when you try to open it? |

I stir the peanut butter thoroughly every time, just to avoid the problem.
But I'm very anal about these things :) |

Slightly off topic. . . What is a good brand of natural Peanut Butter? I have been eating JIF my whole life so not so sure of any other brands. . . I have managed to start using a no sugar added preserves but still need to revamp the PB! Any recomendations would be appreciated!-------------- Love me as I am . . . Let me worry about how I look! |

I could be wrong but I do not think that JIF makes a natural PB. Natural Pb should only have peanuts and salt listed as ingredients. Smuckers makes some excellent peanut butter

Smuckers is a great brand. And, when storing the jar upside down, when you open it, simply turn the jar rightsid up. You really do have to be smarter than the jar!!:laugh::laugh:-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

Some of the larger supermarket chains are beginning to make their own brands of natural products. For example, Kroger stores have a natural peanut butter that tastes great, and for $1.69 a jar is usually cheaper than regular PB!-------------- OSU Law Rugby....specializing in personal injury and pain & suffering. | |

Hello everyone! Our family has used Smuckers natural peanut butter exclusively for over 15 years. We recently made an inexpensive self-cleaning mixer to solve the common problem of stirring the peanut butter without splashing the oil over the side or not reaching the bottom of the jar. The mixer works with various brands of natural peanut butter. Please check it out at www.witmerproducts.com

I have that Witmer mixer and love it. I got it from a Smuckers ad offer. By the way, after mixing the natural peanut butter keep it in the fridge and you won't have to mix it again.

I'd give you my credit card number to get one, but it doesn't seem to be working anymore - the helpline said something about it being "maxed out"?

That was a pretty shameless plug there, "oldpbmixer". Hey, that's a coincidence, your sn is old pb mixer, and you were talking about a peanut butter mixer. That's crazy. The world is such a funny place sometimes. Princess, your credit card is maxed out, and you still owe me a few payments on that parcel of land I sold you a few weeks back. Do you have a paypal acct?? Just go to a health food store, they have many cheap brand of natural peanut butter (so yummy!). Yes, be sure to mix the natural oils in thorougly before using! You should not have a problem. If it becomes drier at the bottom, maybe add a bit of sunflower oil to mix in.
