Hey everyone, I am new here and well i have just started to get back into training again, prior to my pregnancy( basically the last 10 months of 2002) I was heavily weight training, the old school way, and by this i mean in a good friend basement(he was a professional body builder in his youth) anyhow he was like a drill sergent which was great but now with failed health i am on my own....i want to know if i can do more than the alloted 3 days a week...my schedual was different than the one they have given me here...anyhow here is an example

5 days a week

50-100 crunches,
6min of squats,
6min of calf raises,
10 sets of 10 bench presses (alternating legs between reps)
4 sets of 75lbs preacher curls(where i was at when i stopped)
3 different styles on the curl bar 4 sets of 10 reps (geeze i wish i knew the names..lol..i just did as i was told)

4 sets of 10 reps where i would bring the dumbell up my side into my armpit.

and then i would do crunches with the curl bar where i would do 10 then hold on the last one and curl the bar 10 times.

i had fast results with this and would like to know your opinion on if i can go for the gusto and train as hard as i did then...thanks

OH AND I A NOTE TO ALL WHO ARE WORKING OUT...DO NOT STOP ABRUPTLY THE PAIN IS UNBELIEVEABLE...YOUR MUSCLES FREAK RIGHT OUT!!!...

That seems like an odd routine to do five days in a row, or even five days a week. If you got great results doing that, it is amazing. Most people would end up overtrained.

You will need to ease back into a routine. if you pick that routine, start with 2 or 3 times a wek, with a day or two inbetween for rest.

Pain upon stopping working out is abnormal.

You should be able to lose 15lbs in five weeks - start slowly, though. A lot of fat loss (80-90%) depends on what/how/when you are eating.

Good luck!

thanks for your response, i did not do that exactly each day somedays we would leave things out and mix it up a bit, also there was some cardio before and the workout last only 1.5 hours at the most.

The doctor told me that when you work out that hard the pain that i was experiencing in my shoulders and arms were normal.

anyhow thanks for the advice i am going to stick with the routine here that free trainers has laid out for me and add some extra's i'll keep track of what i am doing and let you all know what my progress is in 2 weeks and then 4 weeks...

That workout would kill me. You are a strong person. Like Amy says, that pain is not normal, unless you are talking about after working out. Eat right and come back slow.
Good luck.

Pain in your shoulders is not normal - it indicates that you are doing damage. Pain/sorenes in your muscles is normal when you workout hard, but pain in your joints is a sign of overtraining, progressing too quickly, or bad form, poor exercise choices.
Definitely try the programs here and keep us updated!!!
