Can the placement of the bar when benching effect different parts of the muscle? For example, If I lower the bar over my upper pecs, will it work out my upper pecs more and visa versa?

I understand that incline and decline will work the different areas of the pecs, but it seems like I cannot isolate my upper chest.

Thanks!

It is really one muscle with different attachments, pec major and pec minor.
Try decline cable crossovers and cable crossovers, I find they really work the enitire muscle.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a machine. I workout at home. I have a bench but it only does incline and flat, no decline. What I do is incline dumbell flies, incline bench press and flat bench. So with what I have, I am trying to get the best all around chest workout. Any suggestions?

Decline bench works well. You can block up the bench with 2x4's to do them.

My bench is an incline and Flat bench also. What I do for Decline exercise is get a big Back Pack and load it with weights, (of course put it on your back) LOL, then put your feet up on the bench and do a push-up. This is not quite as good as a Decline bench, but it will help..

ssminnow - you can pick up resistance tubing pretty cheap - they work like cables once you figure out how to anchor them at the height you need.
