Ok, hope I'm in the right place to post this. Just found this site yesterday and it looks wonderful. I am anxious to get started on my new routine (both diet wise and exercise wise) and would relly like some examination of what I have been doing.

In a nutshell... In the past 15 months I have gone from 405 pounds to 205 pounds. I am 42 years old. The problem now is that I seem unable to reduce my weight further. It's lose a couple gain a couple and that has been going on for a month now.

I looked at the Nutritional Plan here just this morning and it says to consume over 4000 calories per day. Can this be correct? That would scare the bejeebers out of me.

My current typical menu and exercise routine looks like this... (any analysis and recommendations would be greatly apreciated).

Morning workout: warmup, 2 mile jog, warmdown, 30 minutes of resistance training using crossbow (similar to bowflex)

Post workout: Protein drink (whey protein isolate)

Breakfast: LC (low carb) cereal, 2 boiled eggs

Afternoon workout: 3 to 4 miles walking, slow pace, on breaks and lunch while at work.

Lunch 1: Fruit (an apple, orange, plum or berries), LC bagel with cream cheese

Lunch 2: Protein bar (atkins bar)

Supper: Serving of meat (usually chicken or fish), sugar free jello with cream, serving of vegetables

Evening workout: warmup, 2 mile jog, warmdown, 30 minutes of resistance training

Snack: turkey pepperettes or dill pickles if anything at all

I do also try my best to get in 2 litres of water each day

So typical day is comprised of about 1700 calories, 40% fat, 43% protein (175-200g), 13% Carbs (80g which includes sugar alcohols and fiber, deducting 20g sugar alcohols and 30g fiber would put me at 31g net carbs)

I try to consume very minimal carbs after supper if any at all. My diet has been low carb (Atkins) and spent most of the past 15 months restricted to 20 to 30g of carbs. I have upped my carb count and reduced my saturated fat only the past month or so.

My biggest concern is... is my fat/protein ratio ok and am I consuming too much protein? I workout on an empty stomach and follow my morning workout with the protein powder which I believe is correct, but how soon after my protein shake should I be eating breakfast? By the way my powder is mixed with an ounce of heavy cream, water, and zero carb sweetener.

Bump. BB1, asimmer can you help this gentleman? I noticed that his questions were not answered. I do not have the extensive knowledge to help. In my own opinion I think he is exercising too much with too little food intake. I could be way off, if I am feel free to punch me in the face.

The first thing I noticed when reading this post is that a 40% daily fat intake seems a little hefty to me. Dunno if I am correct or not, but I would try to keep the protien up but keep the fat a little lower.
