Ok, now i was doing standard squats reping to ten on this set and a guy came up and was critiequing on my form saying everything was perfect but i was going TOO LOW! first off i wasn't going that far past 90 degrees at the knee bend and secondly i have never heard of going TOO low. somebody help me here did this guy have the facts to back up his badass attitude? or am i just peraniod?

if you only go a little bit past 90 degrees then there is no problem. he probably cheats it like so many other people do. so next time you see him squat (if he does) tell him hes going too high.

you dont really need ot go past 90 degrees to build muscle, but it is beneficial for atheletes. It definately could hepl youre muscular growth to go below paralel, but it can just tear up your knees. For college football, they make us squat below parallel, and my knees have gotten aweful in the last two years.

You want to stay at 90 degrees if you go lower then there is a slight chance that you might do some damage. Good luck

yeah, what assante said... if you go beyond 90 degrees, you're putting disnecessary stress on your knees... stay at 90 degrees!

you only need to break parralel if you are a power lifter.
