can you do 2 arm pushups? you might not have the strength yet for the 1 arm. try spreading your legs apart further to give yourself a better base to work from - Mike

are you looking for training ideas? or the form?
In my martial arts class we do pushups always on both hands, but go from flat hand, to fists, to fingertips, to 2 fingers+ thumb, then 1 finger and thumb, back hand in, and back hand out, wide stance (spread out hands and feet) and dips, but never do one handed, I think that is more of a movie thing.

is there a certain technique to it such as body positioning or is it just raw strength?

Have your pressing hand centered under your chest and have you shoulder abducted 45-90 degress (ie. upper arm away from you side). A wider stance will help with balance.

I progressed from two arms to one arm by starting one arms at an angle, on the wall, then on a bench, then finally on the floor. It took a while, but I got to the point where I could do about 7. Haven't tried them in a while, maybe I will make that a summer goal, to do them again...
-------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight.

One handed pushups are the kind of things that you do to show off, but they don't help you and they hurt the h*** out of your ribs. I'm only 100 pounds so they are easy cause I have fairly good bi's and ok tris and pecs.

You think so? Read pavel tsatsouline's power to the people, or the naked warrior, and tell me one armed push ups are for show. They are more a trunk move than I think a "bis" move. Considering your biceps only act as stabilizers in the movement.
-------------- Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run.
