lifting before sleep

A lot of the time I get home late, around 9 or 10. Is it unhealthy or stupid to lift a short time before I goto sleep?

its better than nothing at all...but the only issue is around that time your body is winding down and when you lift you wake it back up. at least thats what i've read...my personal experiance is its not bad. i would just lift, then relax and watch TV for like an hour or something before going to bed. just to relax your body.

By personal experience, its not that bad. Sometime you can exhaust yourself and have a great sleep or sometimes you'll get wired because you're all pumped up. Its a double-edged sword.

The biggest problem is that you could be doing yourself more harm than good if you are not having some type of recovery drink and then at least some whole food meal before going to bed. You are in a catabolic state post lifting anyway, and add to that the other most catabolic time, nightime, and you are doing yourself harm. It is fine to workout late, just make sure you have a good recovery drink. Then 1/2 hr. or so later have a whole food meal of slow digesting protein, fat and fiber to help aid you through the night. Then in the morning have your high protein breakfast immediately upon rising.

I always workout late, usually 2-3hrs after dinner. That would mean 9-10pm, after that 30min later I eat a can of tuna and go to sleep in 30min-2hrs. Nowdays I get some protein shake after and then tuna later.

You may think about having a large leafy green salad with some type of oily dressing, this will add fiber and some fats which will further slow digestion and aid recovery.

How long should you wait after eating the salad, oil and tuna before taking ZMA?
