ok, it's my first time posting to this board. I really want to be into the fitness program. But truth be told I have no motivation. Last night my husband said something that really got me though and I had to start thinking about it again. I am in my BMI range and actually the right weight range too, but something just isn't clicking, perhaps its the toning I need, or maybe I could stand to loose some. Plus, I'm going to be in my best friends wedding in two months and I want to be looking great in front of all those people. I think I could stand to loose, I guess 15 lbs, don't really know though. But I want to be able to make him feel like he is looking at this beautiful person. The only way that happens is if I regularlly workout, because that is what he is into. He is interested in me being interested in working out with him. I know he just wants to see me working out and eating right, just taking care of myself etc. Problem is I have no idea where to start. He is very fit and I don't feel I can keep up with him. But, I do want to do something. Where on earth do I start? exercise, which diet is best? I'm 21 years old and have enough common sense to know I need to eat veggies and all that, but I don't like them one bit!!! So what is right to eat and how much cardio, how many times a week? and how do you keep your motivation? Thanks yall!

Motivation does ultimately come from ones self. There is also a big role played by your support network. You need to put that foot forward but the FT community will be able to guide you along the way. Train hard - Mike-------------- I am that which must be feared, worshipped and adored. I think the hubby should give you some tips on where to start--but assante74 is right--motivation does have to come from within. You will never get anywhere trying to please everyone else. Start now!

Myself, as I've been working out I'll look in the mirror and see even a little change in my physique, I'll hype myself up and swell with pride. It has to come from you, you need to set your goal to where you want it and work there, and if you want more than that set a higher goal than the one you obtained and work there. I always make sure to congradulate myself even on the most minute change because it is a reinforcing boost to my self-esteem and will power to keep on.:dumbbell:-------------- A determined mind is the best weapon in any situation, a strong body is the road to victory. Hello, can somebody please help me? I need a good kick in the butt to get me going again. I'm going, but not like before. I have lost another three pounds bringing my total to 23. I have the blah's. I need to get out of this slump. I should have lost more. I need some motivation to get me back on track with my weights and cardio. Please help. Thank you so much. :(

Hey Sosaia. If you are at the recommended weight and BMI you probably don't want to lose that much. I bet if you hit the weights a few days a week you'd see some great progress by the time the wedding comes around. Tell yourself you'll go 3-5 days a week for 2 weeks. I bet by then you'll see a little new definition in your arms and that should motivate you. Nothing better than seeing progress to keep you going.
I am nowhere near my ideal weight, but when I can feel the muscle forming in my arm, I want to go back to the gym and do more. Keep us posted. |

Lynnda Marie, You need to check in here daily. You can't disappear for days at a time. Take a look at a post in the "General Health and Fitness" board called Challange 2004. It has a red pin beside it. Some of us crazies are doing a fitness challange. there is a category for weight loss and body fat % loss. Come play with us. It starts officially June 1.:big_smile::big_smile:-------------- Foolish consistancies are the hobgoblins of small minds. Charlie | |

I got a picture of myself as a thin person (what I want to be) and one of me as fat (ugh) and look at them both... daily. And tell yourself, daily, I am (15 pounds lighter) I am lean and beautiful and I exercise and eat right EVERY day.
