Hey guys this has been bugging me from the beginning and i ignored because i thought i would get stronger or something but...on the FT program for basically all of the bicep excercises it says to do a underhand grip which is instead of having your thumb over the dumbell/barbell, you keep it under, i'm now on week 6 and i did biceps on monday... everytime i do the underhand grip it just hurts.. at first its just harder to do curls, which is fine.. but towards then end of my sets it just tends to be hurting... i can't quite describe the pain but i know it's not a good one. It kind of feels like my fingers are being pulled really hard...lol thats the best i can explain it. Can anyone relate or does anyone have a solution to this problem? I want to receieve good gains... not sure if the grip will make that much difference if i put my thumb over the bar. Thanks for the help guys!:dumbbell

I believe underhand grip means placing the palm under the bar, with the thumb over the bar instead of placing the palm over the bar with the thumb under the bar (reverse curls). Feel free to grasp the bar with your thumb on top. If anyone disagrees feel free to correct me.

surley without the thumb you would just drop the dum/barbell at the top of the movement...

I believe this is where grip strength would come into play...

you can do it like that too, you just have to lighten the weight, I do it alot, cause it makes me use all biceps and not forearms, alot of people wrist curl the weight and curl it too, so all the stress is divided between the bicep and the forearms.
