I need to up my calories in order to take my body out of starvation mode, and it was suggested that I start using a protien powder. Was wondering what is a good powder to make shakes with, or would it be benificial at all to maybe buy some premade shakes to take with me to work? Let me know what you think okers??

Allot of people use premade shakes at work. Eas is a big name in mrp's. You can also buy a protein blend powder and put it in a rubbermaid container then add your water and shake it up when you are ready.

I put some powder in an empty shaker and bring it with me everywhere. It's light and it's soooo easy just to fill in some water, shake and drink!

EAS hasn't been a good company in years. Not necessarily a bad one either (though an expensive one), but they haven't really been at the forefront of innovation since the mid-90's. I'd much sooner trust Prolab, Labrada, and VPX.
Myoplex is very old news, but it's cheap to make and has a strong brand. Sport (formerly Mass) has too much fat to actually be a post-workout drink, though it's a competent weight gainer. Deluxe is too expensive, although the 36 pack box is more reasonable. That would be my recommendation of the lot, unless you're trying to lose weight, in which their low carb product is good (though a scoop of ON 100% and a carb source would be better).
I take a small tupperware container with me that easily fits in my coat pocket and I can put any powder I want in it. That's mostly just for pre/post-workout shakes, though. For an actual meal replacement, I wouldn't do that, but I'm not really a big fan of oats, which combined with a protein powder would make a decent meal replacement. Either that or some protein powder in a shake and piece of fruit would work.

I am trying to lose weight, but need to up my calories in order to take my body out of starvation mode. Went into GNC this weekend. Looked at the Myoplex low carb premade shake. My mom has been using them and likes them. What are your thoughts on those?

Saw an ad for the low carb slimfast shake...like 2 net carbs, 2-3 grams of fat and 20 grams of protien. About 190 calories a shake. They are much cheaper than the other shakes I have been looking at. Think this would be ok until I can afford to get something better?

My father currently uses slimfast as a meal supplement and Met-Rx protein plus for post workout and it seems to keep him in good shape. Just my 2 cents.

I like the MATRIX from prolab; they come in individual packets, 20 per case (powdered form).
I give them to the drive-up coffee shack lady on the way back to work, from my workouts and she mix's em up for me with fruit and stuff.
I think these packets are alot more affordable than the pre mixed shakes in the can.

I need them to be cheap, as well as something I can take with me to work. The plus size to premade for me is that I can freeze them overnight, and the next day by the time I am ready to drink it it is melted but still nice and cold. Will be trying out the Low carb Slimfast for the next few weeks, and I'll let you know how it goes!
