I'm in my first week using FT's program and thought I had this right but... I'm using 5lb weights for my lateral lifts and can curls - same weight for every set - should I be starting lower and increasing with each set. With 5lb, I can do each rep and honestly feel like I couldn't do another. I have 2, 3 and 5lb weights (sounds so wimpy:))
Any input will be appreciated.

The first set is the warm up set... use lower weights... increase them as you move through the sets... your last set should be hard to do...

Hey pam, you shouldn't feel wimpy. laterals are hard for many people...infact, when i started my laterals i did my reps like this:
20reps x 3lbs
14reps x 5lbs
12reps x 8lbs
10reps x 10lbs
i could BARELY finish that last set...now (just a month later) i do a little bit higher weight (max weight still only 15lbs for my laterals...my shoulders are my weakest point)
The thing is, you just gotta find the right weight for you. My curls have increased as well. I usually do a warmup set thats easy. Then pick a weight low enough that you can do all the reps, but still feel it. Then add weight as your reps decrease (the last couple sets). You'll burn, but it'll feel good later. And if you have to, lower the weight...its better to have to go back lower than to hurt something

Gee, I really love this site, the input and "togetherness" is just great. I'v bounced around a few sites, but think this one's going to be "home".
Thanks for the input and encouragement.
