ok...since i quit playing soccer, i have gained around 10 pounds. most of the wieght has gone to my stomach and "lovehandles". the wright gain also shows in my face/cheeks. it bothers me so much and i really want to get a flat stomach again and loose the lovehandles and cheeks. i was thinking about better diet, am cardio w/ protein shake and crunches...anything else helpful??? please help!

It is food, you need to eat less than you was when playing soccer and training for it. If you diet wasn't awfully wrong, then just nip back a bit on all your normal portion sizes...
I couldn't keep it up unfortunately, but I found a morning run along with a 5 day weights/cardio program lost me 10 pounds in a about 4 weeks. I stopped the morning jog and went back to just the gym at 4pm and put on the 10 pounds again. I'm going to do it again when the sunshine hits the uk again! So that's my idea- morning run from 3 times a week up. I think it boosts your days metabolism somehow.

Losing fat is all about diet. You have to have a caloric deficit to tap into fat stores no matter where they are. There is no "target" exercise you can do. Train your entire body, diet intelligently, and you will see results. Do not neglect weight training. This will strengthen and tone your body. Build lean tissue which in turn in itself burns fat.

how do you loose the pounds in order to work out you stomach so that your fat doesn't turn in to muscle mass?

You don't. Read the different posts in the different forums and become educated about how to lose fat and use muscle to burn fat.

kateye - Just read your profile and I'm not trying to avoid your question but often when you ask a question under another thread, it may not get answered. I recommend you take a look at the Eating Disorder forum here on FT as there are several threads with similar questions. There's some good advice there already posted and you can also ask about anything you need help with.

I have had "lovehandles" my whole life and I've been trying everything to get rid of them. Please give me some tips. I want to be one of the girls that can wear a two-peice swimsuit and stylish clothes; not tent shirts to hide my lovehandles. Thanks

To lose fat, anywhere, it doesnt matter, you have to do:
40% Clean cut Diet
40% weight training
29% Cardio
it worked for me and sosme people Iknow.

I'd have to put the numbers to gain size or lose fat at the same...
90% Diet
10% Exercise
+ Adequate rest.
