Really sorry for my ignorance but in the nutrition, when i went in the grain-bread-pasta categorie, sometime it said 1 cup cooked at the bottom . so i was wondering, is 1 cup an 8 oz size, more or less??

because it`s very tough for me to make someting that have all i need so don`t want to make mistake and eat more or less that my nutrition plan suggest me

Thank you

Cups and ounces will vary because ouncesis a measurement of weight and cups is a measurement of volume.

Grains that cook up you will measure after cooking with a cup measure. Pasta and bread go by the ounces or serving size on the label.

Does that help?

There are different measuring cups for liquid and dry items. Get a set of cups for dry stuff (a set usually consists of 1/4 c, 1/2c, 1/3 c, 1 c. Use that for cereal, rice, grains, vegetables, etc. If you are in canada you probably use metric? So maybe you need to convert from cups to whatever that metirc measurement is (ignorant american warning!!!!:surprised:).
With liquids - look for a pyrex/similar glass measuring cup for fluid ounces - they come in 1-4 c sizes.

Measuring everything for a while will realy help because you will learn what a serving really looks like.

I bought a cheap food scale at the nutrition store - I use it to measure meat and sometimes vegetables (sweet potatoes).

Does that help?:)

dahayz, it isn't just you. i just couldn't figure out why it would be in the nutrition section.

Hmm, how do you convert cup size to measuring volume?

Is a b cup equivalent to 8 oz??? Okay, I probably just opened up a whole new can of worms, eh?

so two juicy melons must be a couple of jugs!
and two fried eggs an ironing board!
So I reckon this table would work;
two fried eggs = 1/2 a cup or a palm sized portion(I tested this- it's accurate:big_smile:)
1/2 a cup = an ironing board
2 ironing boards = two half cups or a hand measure!
a jug = a handful
2 jugs = too much to handle!
more than a handful = a waste:laugh:

dahayz, I thought the same thing and also thought it was going to be about the breast enhancer and was ready to tell the person to stay away from them, they promote fatty tissue growth and that is everywhere not just the breast.
