Can you please discuss the difference, if any, between calorie dense foods and the bodybuilder's grocery list? I've gotten rid of everything in my house that is not on the list and I'm having no trouble sticking to those foods.

I'm eating just under 1500 calories per day, a major improvement from the 800, but it's taking me all day. I eat 7 small meals a day, each around 2-300 calories. My days are usually 16 hours long and I'm not hungry in between those 7 meals.

I'm not entirely certain what my question is, except that I feel that if I arrange the foods differently or choose different foods from the list that I may come up with more effective ways to incorporate those calories.

What follows is a very typical day for me and I appreciate your patience through the long list. The slimfast is in my diet because it's an easy, portable, inexpensive way to add protein and calories. This configuration is 50/30/20 p/f/c.

6am
4 egg whites
1/4 cup 2% milk cheddar cheese
1 slice low carb toast
1tbsp lite margarine (no trans fats)

9am
Slimfast low carb meal replacement bar

Noon
1 cup lowfat cottage cheese
1/2 can water packed tuna

3pm
Slimfast low carb shake

5pm
1 large celery stalk
1 wedge laughing cow creamy swiss cheese

7pm
7 oz chicken breast filet, baked w/o oil
1.5 c chopped broccoli, steamed w/o oil

9pm

1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries, unsweetened

I really am maxed out right now, this has me shoving what feels like a huge amount of food. Thanks for any help and suggestions. I've lost 3lbs this week since I upped my calories to real close to 1500 per day.

Anni, I kow you are asking bbfit, but I just can't keep my big yapper shut now, can I?

You are doing great!
At dinner, have 3-4 oz instead of 7 oz chicken breast.
Have an apple with your early slimfast.

You could mix some veggies in with your eggs.
At noon, have your tuna on a bed of lettuce and some veggies.

Switch your cottage chese to your 9 pm snack, berries at 9 pm aren't as useful to your system. Have the berries at breakfast or at non.

Okay, I will step back and let bbift have at ya' now!:)

Keep it up - think of how far you have come!

lol asimmer you are so funny and so helpful!

I was up in the middle of the night, I woke up hungry. Is it okay to eat then? I was starving so I shoved some cottage cheese and went back to bed.

Yes, that has happened to me, also. Cottage chese is a good midnight snack. If you switch your evening snack to cottage cheese, you might not wake up hungry.
It is a good sign, your metabolism is up and demanding food!

Asimmer has given good advice as usual.

To compose a complete diet, you must take several factors into account; this includes calories, meal frequency, quality of foods, i.e. high efa ratio in your fat consumption, glycemic index, fiber consumption, vitamin/mineral intake, and much more
Try this.....

Sprinkle the flax seed on the cottage cheese, and add some sugar free jello mix of your favorite flavor..I like the peach and strawberry bananan, mix together, and it is crunchy and sweet, easy to eat. The reason for the flax seed or meal fiber.

I didn't notice the first time through, but I would also change your noon meal to cut out the cottage cheese there. This can be added later if necessary, but a better thig may be to add a sirloin steak at your evening meal(5 oz. or so) once per week.

Sorry, also one other note. Do not use corn for your veggies. Use a nice leafy green veggie like spinach, or use asparagus, broccoli, squash, etc.
