Protien, how much and when?

Got myself a good protien shake, has about 25 grams of protien in each serving, it is that whey protien stuff.. Celutech I think it is called (at work lol can't look at the bottle) prity much, the bottle tells me to drink a shake like 5 times a day, that seems a bit excessive, espeical since I do have a high protien diet. I have also herd that I should have a shake before and/or after a workout. Any recomendations?

I have a 2 scoop 34 gram shake of whey after my work out. Then when I get home some carbs to restore energy. Mike

You could take 2 scoops, postworkout, with some simple carbs added, if you don't want to get into the maltose/dextrose thing, you coudl add a tablespoon of honey. Then an hour later, eat a meal.

How much you use it is dependant on whether you are getting enough protein throughout the day in your meals. it is better to get whole food sources as much as your schedule allows and then use it to fill in the gaps.

There have been a ton of previous discussions on when to use protein shakes and how much carbs/what types, try looking up post-workout shake in fitbuddy.

I'm led to believe that a body can absorb only about 40 g of protein at each meal time- so when planning meals and drinks you can eat 30+ to 55g of protein. Anymore would be pointless(alledgedly)..
So if you get six meals/drinks the most protein worth taking would be 330 grams a day.. or try 8 meals if you is the hulk....
I'm looking for cheap, bulk, protein powder in the uk but it's all in 405g , 907g or 1.225g card tins or big gainers full of carbs 'n sugar?!?!!
