How much have you been eating, previously?

Thanks for respnonding asimmer i have read a lot of your responces to other folks and every one seems to respect your knowledge...hopefully you can help me out. I dont exactly know how much i currently eat because i never counted carbs or fat or anything esle. this is all new to me. this is a average day for me...

6:30am Bowl of cereal and toast

12:30pm Sandwich and salad

6:00pm skinless chicken, veggies and bread

This is no diet...just a typical day.

You eat less than my nine year old daughter!!!

Do a rough calorie count and let me know how many calories you get in, on average, daily. (NOt many)

You need to eat 5-6 small meals a day.

3,100 might be too much, but it depends on what you weigh. If you really eat as little as you say, as infrequently as you do, then your metabolism will be at a slow crawl and you will need to gradually up your calories.

Do a little homework and get back to me.:)

Hi ag30, you need to look for the post titled "body builder grocery list" first. You will notice that your food choices deviate significantly from that list, so you will need to make those changes.

I can't give you the correct proportions because your caloric indicate requirements far exceed mine, but I can give you an example.

Breakfast

5 egg whites (toss in some veggies)
1 cup cooked oatmeal (not instant)
8oz skim milk (1 cup)
(remember to disregard the portion sizes that I'm giving you)

I know everybody is laughing at me because I'm best at the breakfast example.

One of the basics is achieving the proper balance of the micronutrients protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Notice that the breakfast contains protein from the eggs, starchy carb from the oatmeal, veggies in the eggs representing the veggie group, and the milk is fat free but we'll use it for the fats group.

You aren't using egg yolks because that's where the fat and cholesteral are, and you don't want those.

That's everything I know about breakfast, except that it's terribly important that you start your day out this way. I hope I got it right.

And now, back to Asimmer:love:

I can't believe I made a typo, it's not micronutrients, it's macronutrients. I'm terribly sorry for any confusion.

howdiekat, this is what they make me eat, so I make everyone else it, too. :)

Eggs are so boring after a while but you might enjoy the following:

4 egg whites
1/4 cup canned, drained spinach
1/4 cup mushrooms, fresh or canned
1 wedge of Laughing Cow Light Cheese, cut into small pieces

Heat the mushrooms and spinach in a small skillet, as though you were sauteeing, only this is just to remove all the excess moisture. When that's done, add the eggs and the cheese and finish like an omelet.

It's not the most attractive dish, but it's yummy and hot and will make you strong, like Popye!
