My daily intake of sodium always seems to excede the recommended daily dosage for a 2000 calorie diet. However, I am on a ~2800 calorie diet.

With a substance like sodium, is it safe to modify my ideal daily intake to meet my higher calorie diet? Also, what are the negative effects of sodium?

I wouldn't think that this is an element you would want to increase whatever the calorie intake.
We are talking about salt here aren't we! Something we want a bit less of I reckon. Don't sprinkle it or add it to your diet. Look at how much packet or processed food you are eating and it's sodium content.

Negative effects of salt I think are related to blood and arterys so it's far to say a cause for concern with the heart.

Maybe you should be adjusting the types of food choices you make slightly. Look at the higher salt content foods you eat and think of a better alternative.
