Well the last workout was done yesterday. Had to cancell the Y as we are very very short in funds for a while. Depression has already set in. I hope this is a short term thing but I doubt it. In a few months I have another baby coming and well that is most likely all she wrote on my training for who knows how long! :(:(:(:(

aw MUTT. Well, throw around those free weights I guess. I use free weights at home for the same reason. You CAN keep training, you'll just have to use free weights because, they are for all intensive purposes, FREE. :)
It's great to see you again though, and the new pic is awesome.
Chin up Mutt. All will be fine.

Mutt, I thought I read in an old post that you had some freeweights in the basement. I know folks around here are always ditching them in attic sales. Maybee you could pick up a few sets that way. I say "sets" because usually they are 110 lbs. You probably need six or seven sets to combine for your shrugs and deadz.

LOL I have about 200lbs I can put on a bar (that is all the bar holds). No bench and no dumbells except for a pair of 30 lb hex dumbells and 2 20lbs ones that convert to one 40lb DB. I have a ez curl bar as well. And you are right 200 is not enough it just pisses me off LOL

No despair allowed, Mutt!

Me thinks its time for a few cycles of Dino training! Start doing sets/reps with objects around the house/yard, etc.: farmer walks with big buckets filled with water; lifting large rocks from the ground and walking them over to and setting them on something at eye-level; pushing/pulling a car for 50 ft at a time. Try doing things like that. Set up your workouts just like if you were planning on going to the gym - lifts, sets, reps, etc. I have incorporated Dino training periodically into my training when I was still powerlifting, and it did wonders to my lifts.

Good luck, bro'. And keep pushin'!!!!

You can do it mutt. Give yourself some of that gung ho advice you give to the rest of us when we are frustrate and discouraged. It will take a little more thought and creativity (and that right there is giving your brain a workout!) but we know you can keep 'pushing your weight around'. Hang in there big guy.:dumbbell:

Hey Mutt - can i send you Dave Drapers book? Or can you find it at the library? It is called Brother Iron, Sister Steel and i think you would get a lot of motivation from it. Anyhow, use those weights that you do have for volume training and do a lot of integrated stuf like one hand clean and presses, double duty exercises like pullovers-to presses-to triceps extensions-to flyes. Exhaust your muscles with new angles and combinations. There is always a way!!!!
I can't come and kick your butt, I am currently headed Charlie's way to 'motivate' him to keep from smoking. (Has anyone seen the SNL with the Rock as Nic cotrol?)

I have read parts ofthat book. I have a plan in place will start that on monday. It involves tightly controled reps ie very light weights(for me) and slow reps. Lots of yard work/cardio. Car pushing, and odd lift events....I plan to lift cement paving bricks, filling 35 gal cans with varying leves of water to pick up carry and press, things like that. Also the school .5 miles from my house has chin bars so I will do 1/4 chins till I can do them all the way. LOL I will be huge by the end of the summer!!!

Ok last week was the week from hell. I ate anything I wanted (yes even Poptarts!) I only cut grass as a exercise for the week. I have been thinking about something Mike said...Dino training. So I have developed my own brand, I will do like reugalr lifts 2 days a week(ie deadlifts, floor bench presses etc.) The other days will be dedicted to odd lifts as filling a garbage can with water, cement paving blocks in a milk crate lift. I have a cast iron clothes line pole with cement around the bottom that I will use for squats and presses. Also have been toying to use it as a bench press tool as well will have to see how that develops and how safe it is. It still has cross bars at one end so it looks like a "T". Anyway am looking into getting som sandbags and hope to locate a old used Beek keg that I can use for cleans and lifts as well. I will also be pushing my wifes Geo Metro around as well. So I will update as I can...wish me luck!

Muttersnapper never underestimate the value of a sledge hammer. And remember you still have abs to train and cardio to do. Sorry man, I still wanna smoke and I don't want to keep the market on misery cornered.

Amy I believe I could have taken you this weekend. I was feeling a little negative.

i thought of this post the other day when i was changing the water jug on the cooler in my house. 5 gallon bottles are pretty heavy and the sparkletts man seems to be in shape...on the other hand, mutt you could probably carry like 6 of them at a time and not break a sweat. your strength keeps me in a constant state of awe. you're probably better off with the trash cans!
