My roomates and I wake up at about 4:45 every morning to workout, and we rarely eat anything before our workout. I'm about thirty pounds heavier than I want to be, and I had heard that working out on an empty stomach helps burn fat. I just read in Muscle & Fitness that lifting weights on an empty stomach can actually cause you to lose muscle since there isn't anything in your stomach to build the muscles back up. Although I am trying to lose weight, I don't want to lose muscle as well. What would you all suggest I eat/drink before my workout? Thanks!
