I like behind the head. My partner likes front. I thinke you can cheat to much and use your chest when you do them in front. But when you go behind the head stop at the bump on the back of your head, you go any lower and it stresses the rotar cuff to much and really doesn't help that much more with growth.

I LIKE THE FRONT BECAUSE I FEEL MY MUSCLES WORKING AND THE NEXT DAY I FEEL IT BUT BEHIND JUST GETS ME BORED AND DONT FEEL ANY THING

Working behind the head is more effective since you are iso. more of you shoulders and avoiding the reliablity of your chest. But there is a higher risk of hurting yourself as with any behind the head exercise. If performing them behind the head besure to use strict form.

You must be VERY careful when you do them behind the neck because your shoulder is not in a natural position or groove; therefore you can easily cause and injury! If you want to go heavy on this exercise I recommend the Smith Machinel otherwise you are asking for trouble.
