both types are beneficial, but whey is more useful in the context of working out. a good blend of whey concentrate and isolate is a good place to start with the protien powders. the pure isolates can be a little on the bad tasting side (i.e. isopure) but are very good to use.

when choosing a powder you want to make sure that a high percentage of the serving size (in grams) is protien. for instance, if the serving size is 70g and the protien content is 55g, the serving is 78.5% concentrated with protien and this is good. don't consider anything that's below 70%, it's not worth your money.

hope this gives you a good place to start. you can search fitbuddy at the bottom of the screen for more info on this, the boards are a wealth of information! welcome to ft!
