Carbs to gain muscle?

I weigh about 150 and work out 5 days a week. I haven't been able to gain much mass the past few months. I have a good protein intake (about 125 grams per day) and high water intake (1.5 - 2 gallons per day). I heard that I should increase my calorie intake with more complex carbohydrates. Is this true or will I gain fat as well. There seems to be a fine line in calorie intake here. Where is it?

Yeah man, you need barbs to be able to put all you can into the weightroom. They are the best source of energy, and if you cut them out completely, your body could go to muscles for energy. And most people don't want to lose muscle.

No matter how much protein you feed your body, without the proper nutrients besides, it will mostly be utilized for energy(fuel) for the bodies needs. Your body does not care about gaining muscle. It cares about survival first and foremost. You must eat carbs. They are protein sparing, so you can actually take in less protein if you take in excessive amounts now. Your calorie intake to grow has to be above maintenance. You need a calorie surplus to have any chance of putting on lean tissue.
