Been working out since Sept 2003 faithfully, and got up to benching 6 reps of 120lbs (I know it's not much, but for me, it was a huge increase). My goal was to bench my weight of 155lbs. Every other week, we play cards at a friends house who has their bench set up with all the weights they have (185 lbs), and once in a while, we all try to bench it, which none of us weaklings can do... well a month ago, I made a goal to bench that bar once. I've worked real hard on benching at the gym, trying to strengthen my chest. To my shigrin, my chest really hasn't been developing the way I want it to, or quick enough, but as usual, when I was over their house I asked for the spotters and accepting their groans of "what a waste of time". Wow, did I show them (and myself!).. I can't believe I actually did 1 rep of 185 pounds.. not only do I only lift 120 in the gym (afraid to go higher without a spotter), but I just blew away my goal of benching my weight..! I can't believe how surprised and proud I am of myself..
Thanks to FreeTrainers exercise program and all the help from the moderators and users, I was able to do something that I never thought possible..... next goal... rep that bar twice!!:dumbbell::dumbbell::big_smile:
