I just started my program, and althought I went super light, it hurts like hell. (Yes, I stretched lots before, and after, and the day after) So should I take an anti-inflamatory or a tylenol for the pain, or just suck it up! The pain is "muscle pain" (Chest/front of shoulders/ arms). Any suggestions?

Suck it up.
-------------- Would it be classified as overly competitive if I refused to let a 4 year old beat me at chutes and ladders?

Yeah, that's what I figgered!
I've been "into" weights before, and I'm just returning.
(I don't know if you guys rememeber what this feels like: the "little rips" that you guys put in your well-tuned muscles are different from the "initial rips" I have to put into my un-tuned muscles. It feels like the ends (attachment points) of the groups you worked (in my case chest) have been partially ripped from the ligament. you can't raise your arms above your head (I mean CAN'T)and when you have to use those muscles, they feel really week)
Anyway, the part I always loved about weightlifting was the steep curve at the start.
cheers

I use a kind of Tylenol that is for muscle pain. It works great.
