I have to ask

dfly411 Posts: 1,352 Joined: 2004/03/04	2004/05/07, 06:11 PM The topic on the styling floor today was if men really want to visit a salon and spa but feel intimidated by the stereotype of this being a "girly" world. I have gone to great lengths to make the ambiance of my business man friendly, it has a very Italian design and bears no flowers nor does it reek of femininity. I offer a special menu for the men and have designed services that allows us to accomodate their wishes (such as coloring the grey in their facial hair) without having to actually "ask" for it. The general body of the staff holds the opinion that men just don't care about their appearance or give much relevance to taking care of their skin as women do. We saw almost as many men as we did women today, so I am on the fence. What do you think guys?

With his family, the barber shop is a tradition, and that might be the way with other guys too.

(it was a guy who cut my hair) he opened his own shop up and I went their same price....He closed down I went to this other guy real weird kept telling me he was making beautiful....So I was like NO! he didnt even cut it right the douche!....So I went back to the old salon of paying 25 bucks a cut and mastered how the lady their cut it went and bought me some clippers for $14.95 and cut it myself! Good Book.

BTW, here is some irony for you guys....the chick that mowed down my carpet came in yesterday to get her eyebrows arched!!! I honestly think that she has no clue what she did! I am a reasonable person that tries not to spend my time over focused with things I cannot undo, but the small evil child in me struggled with thoughts of how painful an eyebrow wax really could be.:surprised:

SHe was a liscened beautician and practiced for the better part of ten years, now the only hair she cuts is my family's. -------------- I have some good news! 	2004/05/09, 07:42 PM It comes down to time and money. I won't make an appointment 3 weeks in advance. I won't pay $20 for a haircut every 3 weeks. I don't like the idea of my haircut having a name. If you were in my town however Mrs da rec I WOULD pay what ever price and wait whatever wait. However, I usually do advanced bookings for my men before they leave, they seem to love that...I just tell them when to come back and call the night before that date to remind them that I have a date for haircutting and drink. (we offer refreshment too) I also offer two types of haircuts...one being a super quick barber shop style for the same barber shop price and then another that includes a five minute shiatsu scalp massage with their shampoo that is more, but money well spent when you have had a long hard day. (still less than $20 too:-) Of course, if ever in Virginia, it's free and immediate for you and any other Ft member...and if your lucky, "the Mr." will do naked squats for your entertainment as well! ============ Quoting from charlie826: It comes down to time and money.
