if you have a lot of excess fat, doing cardio will help with fat loss. you can't spot reduce the fat away, as nice as that would be.
you say in your profile you want to lose 100lbs - the safest, most effective way to do this is combining a clean, balanced diet with aerobic excercise and weightlifting.
an example would be going to the gym 5 days a week and lifting weights 3 of the days and doing cardio for an hour 2 of the days, combined with eating healthy and often.
you can start out slow and build the intensity as weeks go by so your body can adapt, but the key is to stay disciplined.
a lot of people will just go out and start doing crunches like it's going to give them a 6-pack in a month. bad strategy. besides the fact that you can't spot reduce, if you do this it will be a little bit counterproductive because the muscles you're building up will push the fat out farther. you want to strengthen your core in your training, just don't overdo it expecting it to be the miracle exercise because there is no such thing. the only fitness miracle is a lifestyle change:big_smile:
