I do a machine for squats and then I usually only do calf raises. Should I be doing leg presses too? Or other machines for legs on the same day. Or should I do squats one day and other exercises a different day?

Hi vivavegas02, I would suggest doing squats and other exercises for legs on the same day (i.e. leg press, leg extensions, leg curls). I usually have 5-6 different exercises on my leg workout.
Hope this helps,

vegas, i only do squats and leg presses in the same day if i'm doing something like pre-exhaust sets. i usually only do this once a month because i can't walk afterward.
seriously though, i would mix it up, maybe do something like this:
squats
quad extensions
lunges
calf raises
or this:
leg press
ham curls
straight-leg deadlifts
calf raises
i'm actually doing legs today but i haven't decided what i'm doing yet. i'll come back and post my workout after i've done it so you can see how i mix it up. be warned though, your legs will feel like toast if you do what i do:big_smile:

Sorry, the link doesnt work. Go to health resources, then fitness resources, then hams and glutes, then specific exercises....you'll see straight leg dead lift.

here's my workout from today vegas. my reps are a little weird on the squats because of nagging injuries, but you can still get the idea.
squats
12 x 105, 10 x 125, 6 x 155, 4 x 155, 12 x 105
- after i did the last set of 155 to failure i made myself work a little extra. normally i only do 4 sets.
ham curls
12 x 70, 10 x 75, 10 x 75, 8 x 75
straigt-leg deadlifts
12 x 105, 10 x 115, 8 x 125, 8 x 125
seated calf raises
3 of 20 x 145
let me know if you need more detail than ft gives on the sl deadlifts, i'll be happy to tell you more:big_smile:

You can also do a light set....for a warm up for the squats......i prefere hack squats but whatever floats your boat. Also cool thing about leg press is , you can move your legs around into intresting posistions.....
eg... crab leg press, close stance, medium stand, deep stance( feet high on board)...one legged leg press.....toe leg press( only put your toes on the board in and stance you like)......anything you want explained more in depth let me know.......I love leg days... take alot to make me sore.....
or you can do leg presses at the end of your work out, to "burn out" the leg muscles......i wouldn't do cardio on these days lol
