Did you get that number from the FT calorie calculator? If so, I've noticed that it's almost always a little high. Attempting to eat 5500 calories a day probably would have killed me.-------------- OSU Law Rugby....specializing in personal injury and pain & suffering. | |

eh i dont understand this at all, i eat like 4000 calories a day sometimes more im 5"8 155 pounds lol i still feel starving i fink i needa up my calorie intake and my body type is the middle one by the way.. does that make even sense how is 3650 too much i dont know lol my dad use to have 14000 calories.. and i have no idea how he did that lol
i read this program chart thing and it said i was meant to have 2000 calories and thing other one is 3500 calories what i dont understand id how these charts usually just measure by your weight and then times it by some number shouldnt it be a chart based on your body type, body height, and your lean mass? and also how good your heart is?? kimmartinez just count what u what eat on your average day, then up it 500 calories if you wanna gain or subtract 500 for vice versa just my opinion :) |

kimmartinez - what is more important is how many calories you have been getting in daily up to now. You need to know your baseline amount before you radically increase or decrease what you are eating.
Start by writing down what you eat for a week and figuring out the calorie amounts. Then average it out. That is your baseline diet. From there you can clean up the current amount of calories with different food choices and see how far that takes you towards weight loss (since you indicate in your profile that that is your goal). -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |

Last time I checked, your body can only digest a certain amount of milk in a day. I saw somthing on tv peopel trying to drink a gallon of milk straight, they all threw up......................15000 calories? man you just keep shoveling it aren't you? UNless he has a Iv of protin in him 24 hours there no way........if he's an athlete.....he needs 8 hours of sleep a day......24hours in a day minus 8 is 16 hours he's awake and active..brocking down thats.....15000/16 is 937 calories and hour, 468 calories ever 30mins........234 calories every 15mins......thats alot of eating.........thats liek eating a tuna sandwich every 15 mins........... -------------- .......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! ......minds are not vessles to be filled, but fires to be enlightened ......Confucious once said ,DO NOT play leap frog with a unicorn |

234 calories a tuna sandwhich? thats pritty small my tuna tin alone is 200 calories then you gotta add the bread, bread for 2 slices 150 calories then you gotta include what else you put on it if you have anything else, cheese, lettuce, tomato, betroit, cucumber or something i get sick eating the same thing day in day out, andrew on average when your "bulking up" how much do you actually eat? i seen some you guys on this forum and you got diets like 2500 3000 a day like sure you do that but just think about it 1 whole pizza here that i can get frm shops was 196 calories a slice 2500 divide by 196, (thats freashly made at my shop.. coles if u have that place where eva u live so hells know how many calories are in pizza hut ones..) anyway divide by 200 od calories is only 12 and half or so slices of pizza i think we need more then that in a day to get suffient minerals in our bodies for it to grow... sure 14, 15 odd thousand is alota calories and i didnt say you hafta do that or eat that much yourself and i never said you hafta believe me like i said it dun make me sleep anyless but come on anyone eatin 2500 od calories 3000 odd and is pritty big guy bulking up gotta b on some sorta ... you know?.. i ate 5500 calories yesteday and i never said my dad drank all that milk at once obviously you have breakfast have bit in cerial have a shake and then next meal you drink some more and what not, anyway just answer me this question... you drink water, you drink more... what you dont use in ur body.. what you think happens to it... your body takees what it needs sends around your body stores a lil maybe be it food or water w/e as it survives and throws the rest away. anyway like i said this really makes no difference to me if u dun believe me, anyway back to the original question basically just eat normal and take an average of what you eat for a week then up it by 500 calories if you wana gain more weight and keep adding as you so desire.. or feel its needed that.. is my opinion to calorie intake.

guys - i think the original question of this post has gotten lost in your calorie arguement.
The last few sentences of timmstar's last post are correct - "eat normal and take an average of what you eat for a week then up it by 500 calories if you wanna gain more weight and keep ading as you so desire..." Reduce your calories from your baseline average by 200, see how it goes, then add a little more exercise when that stops working. ut your body does need time to get used to new calorie intakes, so it may take a while to see changes. Kimmartinez - i hope your question has been answered and you aren't too confused by all of the discussion/arguement above. -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |

Pizza correct me i'd i'm worng is not a " body bilding" or healthy food........yes it has alot of calores, hell i can eat a whole Ney york style pizza from pappa johns, with stuf crust and everything on it, does that make it good for me ? no there alot of fat calories in pizza.....................bulking up i eat about 3000....... Right now my maintance calores are abotu 2200.............I see no point in eating that much, Unused foods do get thrown out yes, however alos stored as fat if you get too much in you. And youc an only digest and use so much protein. Acording to my biology teacher anyways. -------------- .......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! ......minds are not vessles to be filled, but fires to be enlightened ......Confucious once said ,DO NOT play leap frog with a unicorn |

guys, enough already!! Pizza is not an ideal mass building food, unless you are Lee Priestly, and who knows how much gear he is doing?

hahaha word up to asimmer, andrew i was only talking about pizza because charlie826 had mentioned it in an above post anyway who cares what your calorie intake is, just go for what works for you if you eat less then others and that works then hey good on ya, to me calorie intake is just another number like your weight on the scales.

I have a question... it says on my FT calorie counter that I should be eating 3600 cal per day. That's a CRAZY amount of food! I don't know if I would be able to eat that much. Is that SERIOUSLY the real amount that I should be eating?

perhaps timmstar is becoming confused between cal and kcal, when people say 3000 cal they actually mean kcal, perhaps you read an article or something where in fact they where stating cal and not kcal, I dunno.
Anyway I too have found the FT cal calculator to be WAY off, perhaps if it took height into consideration a more accurate estimate would be produced. I'm a proper short arse only 5'4", having set the plan as for a slow metabolic rate, low activity with a goal of fat loss it still manages to comes out about 400 kcal over maintenance. -------------- |

Hey timmstar - are you sure it was calories and not kilojoules?
Kilojoules is what we use in Australia now - and 15000 kilojoules would be around 3700 calories - maybe that is what your dad used to have - sounds right anyway :-) |
