I'm sure that a similar question to the one i'm about to ask has been asked many times before but here goes.
I am relatively slim and generally quite happy with my body with the exception of the wobbly bits of fat on my bum and tops of thighs. Can anyone recommend exercise that will help tone this area or slim it down, I am a little concerned that if i train this area to much I bum will end up looking bigger.

Thanks
Pol

Well, sorry to dissapoint you, but as humans we cannot spot reduce. What is helpful, is a weight lifting program, and a proper diet. The fat will shed itself from your body like an onion skin. That being said, the muscle that you build, will help burn off the fat, by speeding up your metabolic rate.
Good luck.

Hi Pol.. that is just where I started as well, with the bum and thighs.. uggh!

The thing is, you can't pick where the fat will come from. Training a specific area only builds muscle in that specific area.

To reduce fat it has to be an all-over thing, and when you have just a bit it can be a royal pain to lose just that last few pounds.

Takes some dedication - you have to clean up your diet and eat the appropriate amount of calories, balancing your protein, carbs and fat; and you have to increase your exercise so you are burning more than you are taking in every day.

If you are do a good full body weight training regimen a couple times a week, and cardio 3-5 x a week, set your calorie intake and stick to it, it will be gone in no time!

This was good for me to read. I seem to have a tough time getting out of that "spot reduce" mentality. I'm 5"3 and 121. I'm convinced that most of my unhealthy body fat is in my glutes and I'm always trying to make it go away by doing target excercises, but it doesn't work.
