:)I am quitting smoking on saturday. I have done this many times and I believe that this one will be the final quit.

I've been planning for about a month. Using welbutrin to help out. Not sure if I will use the patch as the continued delivery of nicotine is still dangerous. I understand that it only takes 72 hours for detox and the rest is psychological. I used the patch before and it did help, but statistics show that patch users are more likely go relapse. Even more so the second time. :(

One of my stratagies is to use exercise in the mornings to start off my day.

I am generally fit. I am terrible with eating. My weight is normal at this point I think but I feel like I am too skinny (111lb, 5'2''). I work as a freelance artist and sit on my butt a lot. Still, I am active in play for enjoyment (bike, volleyball, etc) and I also do woodworking.

My husband quit before we met. He is a huge fitness guru as far as I'm concerned. I want to be able to understand his obcession. He has tried to get me into exercising/ working out before. I tend to resist because he makes me feel intimidated in a wierd way. I want to do this on my own and let him be proud of me for my own initiative to do it.

Another goal is to learn more healthy eating. I love to cook and feed everyone. There is no junkfood in the house. I cook from scratch as much as possible. But I tend to really just have one good meal a day and pick the rest of the time. I have wondered if I have an eating disorder. Maybe, I'm hoping, that when I'm off the nicotine, I will want to eat more.

so, that's me. Nice to meet you.

Congratulations on the decision to make a lifestyle change. I quit smoking about 2 weeks ago. I a just getting over the "I hate everybody and everything phase" Now I just dislike everybody and everything.

A lot of us are ex smokers here and there are quite a few posts on the subject. Use fitbuddy, the search engine at the bottom of the page and you will finfd an amazing amount of info on the smoking cessation as well as nutrition and exercise. You are right about three says to lose the nicatine from your body. I am not using patches or gum either.

My wifes proudest moment in a long time was when she showed me her newfound bicep and informed me " I have a muscle!!!!"
The biggest trick to this fitness thing is to stick with it.

Welcome to FT.
