We all have them, those sneaky little cravings for anything from sugar to alcohol to cheetos. Me, I can't stop myself from giving in to the pastry platters we get delivered to out station by the itallian bakeries trying to schmooze us into some free advertising. I also get pretty weak in the knees when it comes to alcohol---any kind of alcohol.
So, how do you guys curb your cravings? Chew gum? Avoid whatever tempts you at all costs? Smack yourself with a hammer until you're too distracted to want to eat?
Tell me your secret to your own personal self control (or the self control you wish you had).

Give in a little, but substitute with a protein shake, no more cravings for me after that.

I have found that the best way to curb alcohol cravings are to...dundundun...forget your I.D. at home. Without it, you can't get any booze. If you do, yell at the clerk. It has worked for me. I will go to the movies or something on the weekend, and want to stop at the bar afterward, instead of going home like a good boy, and low and behold, I can't get in. Doh! It sucks while you're there, but when the craving subsides, you will be pleased with the results.

The protein shake really does work, add a bit of cream to it and some peanut butter or strawberries and it's so yummy!
I do go in phases though. Set myself a time period that I can have a few things.. I find that once I give in to them, I feel like crap and wish I hadn't then can move into my next 'clean' phase.
David - unfortunately the bartenders know me by name and don't ask for ID anymore? Thank goodness for the challenge, I need a dry month or two.

If I have been really good for the past weeks, I just give in. Like last week, I lifted really hard, added on some reps with heavier weights, so this weekend I let myself have a hamburger(homemade) because I really really wanted one!

a little peanut butter, chocolate sugarfree pudding, sugarfree jello, crytal lite, walnuts, pickles, water.
But sometimes you just have to have whatever it is. Pick yourself up and continue on your way.
