Please help.
Although I've been active my whole life, it wasn't until recently that i started lifting weight. i love it. i'm getting stronger. it makes me happy. i also would love to get tighter/smaller. i don't care about a number on a scale (weight) but would love to go down a size. here's the deal ... can i REALLY eat THAT many calories a day and still drop weight (get smaller)? i'm lifting (with my husband) 5 - 6 times a week and have been since the beginning of Feb. No size change whatsoever (meaning the size of my pants ... the size of my arms has changed dramatically - want me to make a muscle for you? :) ) anyway .. i'm just confused by all i see and hear out there. can you help me figure out how much to eat? much appreciated! j'bF |

It would help if we new your stats, and please fill out your profile. Depending on your weight and goals, will determine your calorie intake.

i just need help. can eating this much food REALLY impact the size of my body (in the getting smaller way!)? thanks for any replies j-dogg "Be the change you want to see in the world" -Gandhi |

Eating often keeps your metabolism steady and the burning (of fat)going on. To get rid of the last bit of fat under the skin. You really have to tweak everything you eat. Try aiming for around 13 calories per lb and see what that does after 2 weeks.
Remember, lots of protein, only good carbs,(no whites)and healthy fats. Hope this helps. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Thank you much for your response.
can i trouble you once more? can you tell me what healthy fats are? give me examples please. only good carbs - no whites ... does that mean no bread? what about pasta. trying hard to get it right in my head. i've been tracking every single thing i put in my mouth and although it seems i'm eating a lot (often) i'm only eating around 1600 - 1800 calories. could that be the problem? too few calories therefore slowing my metabolism down? thanks again, Carivan ... your help is much appreciated jDogg |

ennej7 look at the post titled bodybuilder grocery list, it lists the good carbs, good fats, etc. If you only make choices from that list, you are absolutely eating clean and will only have to work on the portion size. Make sense?-------------- Anni ******* Hard work must have killed somebody |

To answer about the fats and carbs, fish is an excellent source of healthy fats, and yes, pretty much good carbs mean no white bread. Anything that specifically states as the FIRST ingredient, whole weat or whole grains is O.K., but even then only in moderation, and try to get them in in the morning and less in the evening. It's really a confusing game, this diet thing, and I think for everyone, the key diet is slightly different. Read, experiment and tweak to find out what is best for you!
