I am interested in helping others obtain a healthy lifestyle. I noticed several of you guys work as personal trainers, is there an industry standard certification , a defacto standard. I see that several different organizations offer a certification process, but is there on that is "most" recognized or more desirable than others.

I have been writing software for 5 plus years and make good money, what kind of money do trainers make? Is it possible to make a lucrative carrer out of training initialy?

If your muscle wont allow you to do the last few reps, make your mind and heart do it. Your muscles will thank them later.

Start doing it part-time and see if it takes off for you. Some people build clientele easily and make it full-time, others work two jobs.

Certificatiopn - American College of Sports medicine is considered the gold standard, it is a very involved certification.

American Council on Exercise is respected.

NASM is respected.

There are many certifying orgs.
This has also been discussed a lot previously, try a search in fit buddy.

Good luck!
