Hey ladies!
Well, the time has come for me to become serious about weight loss. I have been emotionally eating, and it is stopping right here. I have 1 month until my birthday, and I want to lose these 15 pounds I have gained! I know I will lose it farly quickly if I become serious right now (since I'm so out of it right now). What is the best way to lose the flab (I'll be doing cardio, some free weights, toning exercies)? I have extra flab on my belly and thighs, which I never used to have. I aim on losing this and feeling fit and fabulous for my birthday! I know I can do this, I just need some support and advice on the best way to do this. :) Thanks!

Hey! welcome to ft!

Start gradually and be consistent with your weights and cardio. Add in a healthier eating style and you are guaranteed results.

Eat 5-6 small meals a day, consisting of lean protein, vegetables and a little good fat like olive oil or nuts.
Drink lots of water.

Lift enough weight to challenge your muscles and don't over or underexert on the cardio.

Good luck!

Hello!
Thanks for the words of wisdom, ladies! I just have this AWFUL pattern of doing well for a week, then getting discouraged and falling into an endless pit of bingeing, emotionally overeating, and feeling lousy. I want to get to my goal so badly, and I know I can do it - i just feel so ashamed and worthless, because I never used to look like this and it just seems so hard. I need help. Hehe. Hopefully this board can help me break the cycle and reach my goal once and for all!

Change how you talk to yourself and how you perceive yourself.

Start a new pattern and focus entirely on phrases that support and reinforce that new pattern.

Write down the negative things you say/think about yourself and evaluate them - how truthful are they, really? (usually not very). Now write positive statements that counter the negative beliefs you are holding onto. Pick the most powerful one and write it on some notecards, tape them where you will see them every day - the mirror, the fridge, car visor, etc.
One that I like is "I am positive and motivated"

It sounds kind of cornball, but mental stuff really does effect physical stuff.

Good luck - I know you can break the cycle - you just need to believe it and create new patterns.

break your big goal of losing 15lbs into little goals so that you don't lose focus after a week. Have little goals for each day e.g. going to the gym and slightly bigger weekly goals e.g. losing 2lbs (or whatever you like). This way things don't seem so daunting
Good luck
