Hi, I'm a new member - just joined up yesterday. I was wondering if anyone here was from Manhattan. I'm just starting to get serious about exercising (for various reasons) and was hoping there was someone here who had similar goals as mine. If you have a Crunch membership, let me know! My local gym is Kips Bay.
Good luck everyone on reaching your goals! |

Welcome to ft!
Wish I was living in NYC, some days :) Was there nine months in my early twenties... Hope you find a workout partner - it is great to have some to motivate you and vice versa! -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |

pritchard, a good workout partner will get you to go that extra mile and push you till you think you can't be pushed any further, I know I have done it right when my partner says to me "GOOD JOB" Thank you Ron:)-------------- THE NATURAL WAY IS THE ONLY TRUE PATH TO SUCCESS, PRIDE, JOY, HAPPINESS, LONG TERM FULFILLMENT AND SELF-ESTEEM! |

i'm not trying to be controversial, mostly cos i dont know how, but why would you want a partner, surely it just brakes your concentration, must be a personal preferance thing. however if anyone wants to come over to my garage gym im currently charging £100 membership and £10 a session. all proceeds go back into my pocket.-------------- A freetrainer is a happy trainer! LOL. it is a preference thing, I think. But I'd want someone to yell at me over the phone to get my lazy ass to the gym when I feel sluggish. That and giggle over some awesomely built guy with glutes to die for. See...way I see it, it just ain't right to giggle over it with your personal trainer, and it so isn't right giggling over that kind of stuff by yourself -------------- The best victories are won not by adversity and brute force. To me a workout partner has pros and cons, just like anything in life. When I was working out with a good partner in 99-00, I saw tremendous gains. He gave me support, he made me lift harder, he pushed me to do my best, and I him. I also like working out alone because I don't have to wait around for someone to go to the gym with. Sometimes a partner will not show up, or they are not as focused as you are. So in the end my advice would be that if you worked out with a partner, they better have the same goals and aspirations and drive as you do.-------------- Message deleted by moderator due to unsuitable content for this board. |

It really depends on you. I prefer to workout with a partner, but my job makes it almost impossible because I wind up traveling regularly. But having a spotter can make a BIG difference.
