I am very confused about the use of supplements, particularly what brand to use and what brand not to use. I get my glutamine, creatine, glucosamine, and multi vitamins from GNC. This morning I read an article basically saying that products from GNC were a waste, and that I need to pay attention to the labels. What the hell am I looking for? Where should I buy from if I shouldn't buy from GNC?

I forgot to mention that I also take magnesium and zinc.

Hi hecdarec, I remember reading on some post here about a guy that worked at GNC and saying that Pro Performance products were crap... I personally buy all my supplements from GNC, but not the Pro Performance brand. Here's what I get, the brand, and the amounts I take daily
Protein Shake: ON's 100% Whey Protein. After workout 1 scoop with 10 oz of water
Multivitamin: GNC's Megamen. I take only one tablet a day because that post said 2 was too much and you wasted the second tablet (neon pee)
Creatine: ON's Creatine Monohydrate. I take 10 grs after workout
Glucosamine: GNC brand. I take 1500 mg of glucosamine and chloindritin (spell?). Each tablet has about 500 mg and I take them in the morning.and before bed.
Fatburner: HotRox. I started on this one a couple of days ago, I take 1 cap twice a day for the first week, and then I will increase it to 2 caps twice a day. I've also tried Xenadrine EFX, Hydroxicut, ThermoDynamx, etc... they all seem to have the same instructions... 1 - 2 caps 30 min before breakfast... 1 - 2 caps mid afternoon
You could get cheaper products buying online, but unfortunately here in Mexico I can't get the products to be sent to me :surprised:
Hope this helps.

I wouldn't in the first place worry too much about your supplements. Remember, the very definition of the word, "supplements". Get your diet in order. There is nothing more anabolic than a well constructed diet. Supplements actually do very little, at best they enhance a good diet. Whey protein and vitamins are really the only supplements you need. And whey only for post workout, vitamins you should take all the time.
By the way, add some simple carbs to your post workout shake, not just water. this will insure utilization of metabolic pathways toward muscle gain, and not utilized instead for glucose and energy needs.

Thanks to you and asimmer, I believe that my diet is in order. I am sure my wife can vouch for that. As for my post workout shake, I am taking optimum nutrition protein along with malto/dextro. Sound good?
