I have just recently started weight training again. I think I have progressed fairly well in the last six weeks. Most of my gains since the first workout have been 40% or better (I realize that my starting weights were prolly to low on some exersizes). Example from 180lbs leg presses (3 x 12)to 385 as of today. What I am wondering is there anyone else that is usually not sore 24-48 hours after the workout. I do increase my weights when I hit the 12 rep on my last set. Is my body still getting acustomed to to weight training or am I not effectly working the muscle groups.

YOu don't have to be sore from a workout.......usually if your sore thats latic acid build up. LActic acid is used for engery when you don't have oxygen ready for much contractions. You don't have to be sore to have a good work out.

Make sure you are warming up your muscles before starting and make sure you cool them down when finishing with stretches to each muscle you have worked out. It helps with the lactic acid build up, which as bigandrew said, can create unnecessary soreness. You muscles must be
s t r e t c h e d as they will contract after working them out and this also allieviates the build up of that lactic acid. Good luck!
