Okay ladies, my mom is having surgery today ----from which she has banned me ----she doesn't want me to drive (it's three hours from where I live), worry, look at her.....blah blah blah. Anyway, how big of a deal is this operation? Is it pretty routine? I'm thinking of driving up there anyway, whether she wants me to or not.... Should I just wait until it's over and find out when my Dad calls?

My mom had the procedure in 96. She was out of the hospital the next day, but she was laid up for about a week.

My wife had this done back in the 80's, now adays it is a lot easier on the paitent. but you will want to be prepared for all the #$$#^&*$ that she will be going through and putting your dad through for the next few months. You might feel the 3 hr drive is a blessing.
