I'm very overweight and have decided to go the low carb route combined with exercise. It's going great- down to 260- peaked at nearly 290. Here's my problem: with watching carbs, the foods that I eat have very few calories- lots of fish, steak, chicken, eggs, salad, and vegies. So even though i feel like i'm eating all day, my total calories are still under 1000. Now, from reading posts I know that is way too low- I think my ft nutrition plan says over 3000 is what I should be at. it didn't occur to me until today that i may not be getting enough. I feel great though- i'm not fatigued, and I'm still losing- its slowed down but that's normal from what I understand.
Does anyone know any low carb foods that are higher in calories that would help me out? Also- cheap foods are good because i'm a broke college kid!

That would be a great way to get calories, princesslodgey, and protein, I put the facts for sunflower seeds below as I agree, wish I could eat more but I hit my calories before I know it, lol, and they don't fill me enough to substitute for a small meal, but I was complaining in the obesity forum of how the last few of my days were a mess and not eating right, I should keep a stash of nuts around to grab when I know I won't be able to get a meal until later, that would be beneficial.

Thanks for the info Veda- I love sunflower seeds! Always eat them when I'm on a long drive to prevent myself from giving in to fast food. I didn't realize calories were so high on them, but that's a good thing in this case! Thanks again

Some high fiber crispbread or oatmeal would be okay and would bring your calories up. Don't be afraid of complex carbs with fiber and low blood sugar impact.
