Football is once again coming around this year. I have been on a 5 day a week plan, doing one muscle a day, besides abdominals and calves. Is this effective for football or is a multi-muscle workout more effective?

I've never played myself, but I would say lower body is much more important to the sport than upper. Seems you block with your legs and obviously run with them, so I would do lunges for buttocks and hammies and squats and leg presses for thighs. Maybe throw leg extensions in there too. Good luck dude!! Peace.

whatever you do, don't waste your time with leg extensions. Don't work one muscle group per day, stick to the biggest exercises like squats, power cleans, RDL's, Glute-ham raises, bench, pullups ect. Dr. Squat has the best football cycle

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. What about reps? High, Medium, low reps? I want to get bigger, stronger, faster. I was thinking mostly medium reps, with low reps and heavy weight once in a while for great explosive strength. What do you think?
