I just joined this site and I do not know which routine to choose for my profile. I know its either General progression or the gain muscle mass and size. I am 21 and I have been working out for bout 8 weeks. Before I started had no muscle at all. I smoke so I only run about 3/4 a mile 4 times a week which I dont know if thats enough cuz I really want a beach body. Now i notice differnce in my chest and forearms but vary little in the abs and biceps. I do about 90 crunches and 30-40 leg raises 3x a week.I would be thankful if anyone can talk to me cuz I have a lot more questions.
Thanks

Welcome to FT, jbrand. If you are in this for the long haul, the routine you pick isn't that important. Pick the one that meets your needs. Pick one 8 or 12 weeks from now that meets your needs then. Changing workouts is important. It keeps your muscles guessing and growing. Fill out your profile and stick around a while.

I am currently using the general progression workout, and then after that is done, I am going to switch to the muscle mass one. 3/4 a mile is better than nothing. I too, am a smoker unfortunately, and for my cardio, I either swim every day when I get home from work, or 3-4 days a week, I ride an exersize bike for about 30 minutes, which averages around 11 miles per ride.
As everyone says, Abs are made in the kitchen. Its all about the diet (good fats vs. bad fats, etc)

Do you have access to a gym , or no?
If you dont have all the weights that are required for the workouts here, you can modify some of the exersizes. Also, you can input if you use machines, free weights, both..

I have 150 pounds of free weights and bench. At my apartment gym we have a machine that has very few workouts you can do. I have a dip bar to.
