I have been doing the 12 week ab program and would like to incorporate something to work my lower abs a little bit more. I have seen results in the upper portion of my abs the most, then in the middle a little less and the lower abs.....still looking bad. Any good advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am not familiar with the program. However, I have found that hanging knee raises/straight leg raises are best for working the lower abs. I also use inverted boots to work my abs while hanging from my squat rack. Also, the lower abs present the most difficult area for fat loss. No matter how many reps you do, only a low body fat percentage will let your abs show their stuff.

No question this is the toughest area to hit. Try doing "v"'s on a bench press. Support your self with your arms behind your back and bring your knees to your chest then extend the feet straight out. Repeat this not for any particular reps but until it burns. Also leg raises from a handing position, lying position or both. Incline crunches are also good. Do this for 6 weeks and you will see some improvements.

Copy the following link and I'm sure you'll be very satisfied:

Its the directions to properly execute the reverse crunch. I find this the most effective excercise that specificly targets the lower abs. Incline cruches are also very good, but reverse crunches are simply the best lower ab excercise I have ever done.

erin,
the lower abs are the most difficult to attain. My question to you is:
Is there fat on the lower and mid abs? Because the exercises won't make the difference but diet will.

My body is used to about 500 calories a day. My problem I think is the fact I have had 5 children.

hanging leg raises help.{very hard for me to do} i also put my legs on my bench or coffee table and do crunches that way. some times i will roll from left to right. simple leg lifts 2 inches off the ground with tightened abs and rapid breathing really puts a squeeze on my abs. also, when im at work i will tighten my abs as tight as possible and hold it while i breathe rapidly. it it it works
