Thought this might be interesting for everyone, I read it in a Consumer Reports Canada journal article. It's about the new products which are trying to emphasize low carbs. The problem is that the low carb foods are actually higher in calories than the regular carb foods of the same type. "Through the miracle of modern food technology, manufacturers have turned high-carb snacks into low-carb products by replacing sugars with sugar alcohols and refined grains with isolated fibers, and resistant starches. Since this ingredients, though technically carbohydrates, move through the small intestine without being absorbed, the Atkins and other product lines subtract them from the total carb count. Hence the term "net carbs" that you see on many labels". Also "The original low-carb diets probably worked because they were monotonous and low in calories. Today's low-carb comfort foods are neither. A serving of Keto's Rocky Road has 270 calories, almost double the calories found in many regular ice creams and twice as much fat". So for all those who think this new low carb craze will benefit you, you should do some research on the foods you are eating. You may actually gain MORE weight than lose it.

Interesting.
Seems we are always better off eating unprocessed, natural foods.

Sounds more like it should say "Through the miracle of modern marketing technology..." The food marketers know that the vast majority of people only read the big headings and not the details. "oooh! low carb! ...Atkins approved!... this'll make me thin for sure as I watch TV."

Great post...if this doesn't hit the nail on the head! So many of us just follow the herd blindly. Such a shame. There is a wealth of information at our fingertips, and folks still prefer to follow the herd mentality.

I recently saw a recipe for low carb cookies, using ground up pork rinds instead of flour! Just the thought...bleh!

Bwhahaha. Ground pork rinds? Oh god that would be the most horrid tasting cookies ever.

If you want a cookie so damned bad, why on earth are you even trying a low carb diet?

- If your hungry all the time, your not eating enough. And anyways, being hungry sucks.
