Okay just a few days before I found this amazing site, I was all set to buy xenadrine because I thought it might help me lose fat, but bb1 told me that protein would be better to use. Well after reading a Consumer Reports Canada journal article about these new products which claim to be ephedra-free I am so glad that I never wasted the money. It listed many of these diet/energy pills (not xenadrine however, but still they seem to all be the same), and that there is actually no evidence that they work and that they can cause many of the SAME things that ephedra products can cause. It also warned that many of these products may have names such as epitonin, ma huang, sida cordifolia, and sinica which is still EPHEDRINE, just with a different name. It also mentioned that preliminary evidence suggests that green tea may help treat obesity, but too much can cause jitters, headaches, and insomnia. There was also mention of green tea extract but it is just mixed with caffeine ingredients. The medical consultants for the journal recommend avoiding all weight-loss and energy-boosting supplements because there are "little if any data showing that they work, and there's no convincing evidence that they're safe, even for healthy individuals". I was bored during my co-op at the library so thats why I started to read these...but its still very informative.
