Okay I've almost got it, I've got a decent program set up, but I'm wondering how many exercises I should be doing per body part. For example, today is my push day (chest, triceps, shoulders), so I'm thinking 3 exercises for each? or should it be more?

3 or 4 sounds good for the "big muscles" (chest, shoulders)
2 or 3 for tris.........chest and shoulders require alot of tris so don't go over 3 excercises.

thanks andrew, another quick question, is it okay to do like 1 chest, then a tri, back to chest, then a shoulder, then a tri...etc., or should I stay with one part at a time. The reason I ask is because when I do two exercises for the same muscle, my muscle really starts getting weak (to the point where I'm getting shaky arms on the 2nd set of the second exercise), so I figure to give one a break for a bit and then go back to it.

i wouldn't recommend it. If you alternate the exercise you will tire out your triceps for your chest and shoulder workout and not be able to lift as much. I would start with chest, then go to shoulders, then triceps. The chest exercise if doing bench press will work the pump into your shoulders and triceps then the shoulders will set up your triceps for probably 1 exercise or a burnout set

Exactly! If you are doing chest do chest. It is always better to work larger muscle groups first. Chest also use tris and shoulders. A normal split may go like this...chest/tri, back/bi, shoulders, legs. At least that is how I normally do it. Of course you can mix and match to you liking.

make sure you alternate what you start with for larger muscles.........ex.... do chest, shoulders tris on monday......the following monday start with shoulders, then do chest then tris........this way shoulders isn't "secondary" to chest always, and you can lift more doing shoulders 1st........then chest....and the days you do chest first......you can lift a lil more make sense?

tons of sense, things seem so simple when they are explained well...
