i've tried hanging from a pull up bar, and lifting the legs out infront of you, you can feel it straight away. i actually saw it the first time on jackass when chris pontius was training to be party boy... infact im beggining to wonder why my membername wasnt party boy dammit.

gg - the bicycle crunch has been shown to recruit the most abdominal muscles for one single movement. You lie on your back, lift your knees up to a 90 degree angle, place your finger tips behind your ears, do a twisting crunch, leading with your shoulder towards the opposite knee, as you crunch, extend the leg on that side (the side that is lifting up to twist) long and nearly parallel to the floor.
Alternate twisting towards opposite knees and extending legs, slowly and controlled so you really feel it.

Crunches on the swiss ball are good for muscle recruitment and involve your spinal erectors as well.

Martial arts drills are excellent for abs. Power breathing really helps.

Also - some great abs work occurs when you are boxing.

medicine ball drills like wood chops are great to.

Gosh, I could go on and on.

Were you looking for a specific exercise?

Med ball woodchops don't involve dropping - you are in a standing position.

If you can't keep your feet up you need to do bicycles and strengthen your abs!

I love bicyckle crunches they work really well for me! As they have gotten easier I have slowed the motion down to keep them challenging. I also find it helpful to work my abs out with a partner.
For one partner exercise I lie on my back and my partner stands over my head (facing my feet), I lift my legs up (keeping them straight) and then she throws them down. I then have to lift them back up (keeping my legs straight) so she can throw them down again. To make it more advanced you can have your partner throw them to the side and you have to try to bring them back tothe center as you raise them.

they're not standing twists.....they are on an incline board.

I new a guy who had bruce lee's abs routine. I don't know if it was real but I think it would work nicely. I remember trying it and it really made them burn. I forgot what it's called but If I find it I'll post it on here. I remember one involved doing 20 curl ups with your legs in the air at 90 degrees then doing 15 hip raises, 3 times with only seconds in between. I like doing cable crunches with heavy weights.

godengloves - you will get a million different naswers on how many and what type. Try four sets of 25 reps. Slow down and work the motion. You can do four different exercises or four sets of the same exercise.

I like doing crunches with the cables. I grab a rope and hold each end at my ears, I get on my knees and crunch down. I like it as well as the Crunches on the Swiss Ball

I find it effective to do slow push-ups between sets of crunches, i can actually feel it in my stomach, espesially when i go back to the crunches after the push-ups.

I sit on the incline with weight on the leg developer (90 lbs). Then I put a 25 lb plate on my chest and hook my legs into the developer. Then I slowly (and I do mean SLOOOOOOOOWLY) ascend upward, the upward movement should take about 10 seconds... then I hold the apex (max compression) of the movement for about 15 seconds then descend, again taking 10 seconds.

20 reps @ 25 lbs
16 reps @ 30 lbs
10 reps @ 35 lbs
8 reps @ 45 lbs
50 reps with no weight

Adjust the weight for you skill level. Ive seen guys do this with 2 45 lb plates on thier chest, thats pretty amazing to me.

This will make you so sore.... I swear it hurts to breath!!
And you can forget about coughing or sneezing :)
