In May, I went to see my general practicioner because I was severely bloated. I appeared to be pregnant, but I knew I wasn't and the abdominal pain was strong. So, he diagnosed me with IBS and put me on Zelnorm. The medicine is working, but I think I'm experiencing my second case of the severe bloating. It could be a combination of next week's arrival of AF and not taking the medicine as regularly as I'm supposed to, but what worries me the most is the RAPID gain in my scale weight. True, the scale isn't the best way to measure progress, but this up 4 lbs business isn't settling well with me. I'm running on my treadmill for my cardio; as well as, doing the circuit at Curves 3 times a week. So, I'm not attributing this gain to new muscle. Not in a week's time anyway!

Anybody else suffer from this horrible condition?

Perhaps if you took your meds as instructed you would do better?

I hope you will be feeling better soon, bloating is not enjoyable and makes me want to scream at anyone within a five mile radius, so I imagine you are having a terrible time with this. Well wishes, phimugirl1

I may take a lot of flack(sp) for this, but my appetite increases and my weight goes up a few pounds around the full moon. For the last 20 years a couple girlfriends and I have noticed this. I'm sure there is some scientific reason to do with tides and water, etc. But you might observe for a few months and notice if it affects you. And of course there is that week in your cycle where you would bloat and weigh more. I do agree with the others though....you need to be consistent about yor meds.

Thanks Veda!

You're right, az,I do need to be consistent with the meds. I was trying to not need to rely on them. Hopefully, once my eating is on track my body will do most of the work on its' own rather than relying on the medicine.

I will take note and see how my body reacts before, during, and after. I know a lot of women crave things at different times of their cycles. I haven't noticed in myself though that I prefer one time over another. Thanks!!

Hey Wendy, until you get your diet down I would stick with taking the meds regularly.
As you know it took me MONTHS to get my diet figured out where I wasn't having problems constantly, and now I only have to take my meds when a food bothers me. Make sure you use Fitday religiously and eventually you will find your trigger foods and then when you do you can try going off the meds. Until then I would suggest staying on them. No reason to put your body though unwanted stress and who the heck wants to feel miserable :(

Thanks Lisa!

I'm definitely going to be taking both doses each day. Today was a fresh start with taking them both. I do remember the terrible time you had in dealing with your triggers. You've definitely got discipline. Sure, some could say that when you have no choice there's no problems, but that's not always the case for a lot of people. I'm not going to allow myself to go into that category of not caring and just suffering. So, here's to getting my body back in order and under control. That is why I am changing my life, right!!!
