body fat...% ..

i use a scale that measures body fat%
accuracy from where i read is 99% ...more accurate than
pinch test.
here is the confusing part..
on the days of my work out..
i weight less ,, but my body fat measures from 18%to20%
on off days i weight more but my body fat measures
less by 2%...i don't understand this part here..
i do an average per week IM always at 18% body fat.
anther think to be lean .. what's a good percentage.
Thanks ... anyone have or used .. Scale measuring body fat?
I like to know your opinion.

I have mine done by a personal trainer and they use the calipers, but do multi-site measurements (4). I believe that this is more accurate than the scale, which uses electrical impedance. You can continue to use it to monitor your progress, but I am not sure that you are getting accurate information regarding your bodyfat.

the only knowledge i can give is to say that your bf should be between 8-16 percent. if you lose wieght but have a higher percent of bf then the weight ur losing is too much muscle. eat more protien.

Ok.. I've done some research about this one. I'm guessint you are using a Tanita Body fat monitor scale. Be careful...be sure you aren't using the "standard" mode when you should be using the "athlete" mode..Mine only has standard mode and says that I'm 12%..with the pinchers..8%..quite a difference..here is a quote from their website

**Tanita defines "athlete" as a person involved in intense physical activity of approximately 10 hours per week and who has a resting heart rate of approximately 60 beats per minute or less. Tanita's athlete definition includes "lifetime of fitness" individuals who have been fit for years but currently exercise less than 10 hours per week.**

Also..watch out..don't use it right after you work out or in the morning..you are too dehydrated and your percentage will be pretty low. The best thing about this scale is that you can quickly track your progress (or otherwise) just remember to use it the same time of day and it's great (and less painful than being pinched!)
