I'm a college student and have access to basically any weights or machines I could ever think of using, including rooms reserved fro aerobics, tae kwon do, etc. Unfortunately, I've never been in a gym in my life and my school doesn't employ any "gym helpers" that I could ask. Where can I get descriptions of the machines so when I go in, I'll know how to work them? The only ones I've ever been on are treadmills and bikes. :)

Each machine should have a label on it that shows what muscle group that is worked with that machine and a basic description on how to use it. If you are still not sure pick out a machine that you think you might want to use and ask someone if they would show you how to use it.

Lorenda, welcome to ft.

We have complete descriptions of almost all free weight and machine exercises including resistance bands and the stability/abs ball. Take a look at the fitness resources and find the ones you need help with - print them out and take them to the gym.

Good luck!
