Hi,
Firstly I'd just like to say that this site is great. =)
I'm 5'3, weigh no more than 125lbs, and have a pear shape. I think I look dumpy on my bottom half (short fat legs, wide flat droopy derriere and big hips) so I'm trying to slim them down and tone up there. I'm also attempting to build up my top half, so as to look more in proportion.
I suppose you could say that my ultimate goal is to feel good in a bikini.
I started barely a week ago. I'm being very careful about what I eat. I'm cycling on a stationary bike for 40 minutes daily. I do specific exercises on my top and bottom half on alternate days. On bottom half days, I'm doing squats, lunges, side leg raises, inner thigh toning exercises, the 'on all fours kick backs' and butt clenches.
On my top half days, I'm using the arm thingies on my bike. I'm doing press ups (the female ones, I can do 2 at present), tricep dips, shoulder shrugs and stomach crunches.
Is this ok to achieve my goals?
Are the exercises I'm doing enough to lift my butt?
Is what I'm doing enough to broaden my chest and back a bit?
Sorry for the lack of technical language.
I'd really appreciate any help anyone could give me. =)
Thanks.

you'll get plenty of advice and information on this site. there's articles on different body types etc. as for your exercises, FT can put together an exercise program for you for weight loss and definition. try and keep your weights and cardio on alternate days, and make sure you get enough rest. try and make sure your eating enough and at the right times. plenty of protein, chicken, tuna, veggies etc. good luck with it

like t-babe said, there's a lot of great info in here. If you really want to build those glutes, take a look at this post: http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=1&t_ix=1144
And also, you can fill out your fitness profile, ft can set up a workout regimen to build your glutes/quads. and have patience :) you'll have em whipped into shape in no time.

Thank you to you both. =) I'm finding this site to be a massive help in staying motivated.
A few inches up from my knee, my outer thighs (at the side) flare out a lot. What can I do to slim it all down? I know you can't spot reduce, but are there any exercises I could be doing to make it look better, or are there any exercises I should be avoiding? At the moment, when I look at my silhouette, I'm very narrow down to my waist, but then there's like a big fat rectangle. Because I have short legs, I look dumpy. I've decided that this is the number one area I'd like to see improvement on. I am trying to work on building up my top half, but this particular area at the side of my legs flares out a lot and means that there's a wide area from my hips down to a few inches above my knees. So, in short, I'm looking to make the length of my outer side thighs slimmer.
Also, what stretches should I do for this area?
I should probably also add that I'm working out at home and don't have weights.
Thanks a LOT. =)
Hope you all achieve your goals.
